Anytime that you grab the car keys from the counter, and hit the road with a plan to go somewhere, reaching that somewhere is your goal. You are in one place on the map, and you need to get to a different place on the map. Hence, you have to come up with a strategy to get to that other place, and accomplish your goal. This is not much different than if you have a goal to make money from home. In order to successfully make money from home, we need to (A) identify where we need to end up; (B) figure out what actions we need to take to get there and; (C) gauge our advancement. This holds true for all goals in life. We will discuss further below.
1) Figure Out Where You Want To End Up
As we have been discussing, before you actually get into your car and start driving, you usually have to figure out where you are going. If you do not, you are simply driving aimlessly and wasting fossil fuels. Thus, if you want to get somewhere specific by a certain time, you need to know how to get there, and how long it will take. When you define your goals, you have to know what you want the results to look like. You can make money from home, but what does this mean. If you make $10 from home in the next 12 months, will this make you happy. Probably not. Thus, if your goal is to earn enough money to double your household income, you need to picture this as your goal. You have to see yourself living in the future, checking your online bank statement, and being completely satisfied and proud of the dollar amount which you are seeing. Whatever your goal may be, make sure that you write it down so that you can see it on paper, just as you would the address of the place to which you are driving.
2) Directions
Anyone who is driving somewhere that they have been several times before does not need directions. Rather, you can daydream on your way there and never get lost. However, if you are headed to a place which you are not familiar, you will be unable to get there without some help.
So what do we do when we do not know how to get somewhere? We get directions and write them down. We utilize technology such as GPS or Google Maps. Or we go old school and pull out a map. Often times the directions are not stellar, and we have to stop along the way and get more directions. Nonetheless, we do what we have to in order to achieve our end point.
This is not far from what we need to do to make money from home. We learn from those who know how to get to the goal, and follow their actions. We read their books, watch their videos, and emulate their actions. These moves take us closer to our end point.
3) Make Sure We Are Going The Right Way
So we know our destination, and have an idea of how to reach it. We are now driving along and hopefully heading in the right direction. However, we are among unfamiliar surroundings, so how can we be sure that we are going the right way. Did they say to take a left on Sixth Street or Sixth Avenue. I mean, you have Sixth Street written down, but Sixth Avenue seems to make more sense. Maybe your heard the directions incorrectly. How can you determine whether or not you are headed in the right direction? There are a few things that you can do. You can roll down the window and ask someone for directions. Or you can call the person who originally gave you directions. Otherwise, you can double check the map. Nonetheless, you have some options, and will make sure that you get to where you need to go. I strongly doubt that you will simply turn around, go home, throw on your fat pants, and eat a carton a Ben & Jerry’s while watching Seinfeld re-runs. Even if you had to retrace your path and get back on track, at least you will have learned something.
When you set out on the road to make money from home, you may become lost here and there. Actually, strike that. You more that likely will lose direction at some point in the future when something does not go as planned. When this happens, even if you have to start all over, you will have learned something along the way. Just make sure that you get to your end goal.
You are the only person who is able to both accomplish and abandon a goal to make money from home. In other words, the accomplishment of your goals is entirely in your hands. Just as you will come across stalled cars blocking traffic, construction, and potholes, while driving to your destination, there is always a detour. These things are minimal relative to what you will eventually accomplish. When things do not work out as you had envisioned, just remember that you have learned something new. When you are waiting longer for results than you had anticipated in the beginning, recognize that the results are imminent. One thing that you should keep in mind, however, is that there is no shame in stopping and asking for directions from time to time.
