Most companies will require you to do mock exams and not allow you to re-take an exam until you’ve demonstrated an excellent ability to pass – which makes an ‘Exam Guarantee’ frankly useless.

Due to typical VUE and Prometric tests in the United Kingdom costing around 112 pounds, it makes sense to pay as you go. Not to fork out thousands extra in up-front costs. Commitment, effort and practice with quality exam preparation systems are the factors that really get you through.

We’re often asked why qualifications from colleges and universities are less in demand than the more qualifications from the commercial sector?

As we require increasingly more effective technological know-how, industry has moved to specialist courses only available through the vendors themselves – that is companies like Microsoft, CISCO, Adobe and CompTIA. Frequently this is at a far reduced cost both money and time wise.

Essentially, only required knowledge is taught. It isn’t quite as lean as that might sound, but the most important function is always to focus on the exact skills required (along with a certain amount of crucial background) – without overdoing the detail in everything else (as degree courses are known to do).

What if you were an employer – and you required somebody who had very specific skills. Your interviews are then about personal suitability – rather than on the depth of their technical knowledge.

Often, this feature is bigged up too much, as it’s really not that difficult for a well trained and motivated person to secure a job in the IT industry – as employers are keen to find appropriately qualified personnel.

However, don’t leave it until you’ve completed your exams before polishing up your CV. As soon as your training commences, enter details of your study programme and place it on jobsites!

A good number of junior support jobs have been bagged by people who’re still on their course and haven’t even passed a single exam yet. This will at least get your CV into the ‘possible’ pile and not the ‘no’ pile.

The top companies to help you find a job are normally local IT focused employment agencies. As they’re keen to place you to receive their commission, they’ll work that much harder to get a result.

Not inconsiderable numbers of people, it would appear, are prepared to study their hearts out (sometimes for years), only to give up at the first hurdle when attempting to secure their first job. Sell yourself… Work hard to get yourself known. Don’t think a job’s just going to jump out in front of you.

Doing your bit in revolutionary new technology is as thrilling as it comes. You become one of a team of people creating a future for us all.

Computing technology and dialogue through the internet will noticeably change our lives in the future; remarkably so.

Let’s not ignore salaries moreover – the typical remuneration throughout Britain for a typical IT employee is noticeably greater than in the rest of the economy. It’s a good bet you’ll bring in quite a bit more than you’d expect to earn doing other work.

It seems there’s no easing up for IT sector increases in Great Britain as a whole. The market sector is still growing hugely, and as we have a skills gap that means we only typically have three IT workers for every four jobs it’s not showing any signs that there’ll be any kind of easing off for years to come.

A very small number of men and women in the UK today are enjoying job satisfaction. Of course, most will do nothing about it. The fact that you’ve got this far surely tells us that you’re considering or may be ready for a change.

On the subject of training, it’s important to first define what you DO want and DON’T want from the job you’d like to train for. You need to know that the grass actually is greener before your energies are focused on changing the direction of your life. Prudence suggests looking at the destination you’re hoping for, to avoid disappointment:

* Do you like working on your own or do you find company is an important option?

* What criteria are fundamental with regard to the industry you’ll work in?

* Is this the final time you envisage re-training, and based on that, do you believe this career choice will service that need?

* Do you feel uncomfortable about the chance of finding new employment, and being in demand in the employment market to the end of your working life?

The most significant market sector in the United Kingdom that can satisfy a trainee’s demands is the computer industry, particularly IT. There is a requirement for greater numbers of qualified workers in this sector, just check out any job site and there’ll be a long list. But don’t think it’s full of techie geeks looking at their computerscreens all day long – it’s much more diverse than that. A safer solution is the provision of CD and DVD ROM materials that don’t suffer from these broadband issues.

The world of information technology is amongst the most thrilling and changing industries that you can get into right now. To be working on the cutting-edge of technology is to be a part of the massive changes that will affect us all over the next generation.

Computer technology and connections via the web is going to spectacularly change the way we live our lives in the near future; profoundly so.

Should lifestyle be up there on your goal sheet, then you’ll welcome the news that the usual remuneration for IT employees in general is considerably higher than with most other jobs or industries.

The need for professionally qualified and skilled IT workers is certain for a good while yet, because of the ongoing expansion in IT dependency in commerce and the very large shortage that we still have.

* Personality factors plus what interests you – what work-related things you like and dislike.

* Is it your desire to reach a key dream – like working from home as quickly as possible?

* The income requirements you may have?

* Learning what the normal IT roles and markets are – and what differentiates them.

* How much time you’re prepared to spend on the training program.

Ultimately, the best way of checking this all out is via a meeting with a professional that knows the industry well enough to give you the information required.

An advisor that doesn’t ask many questions – it’s likely they’re just a salesperson. If they’re pushing towards a particular product before learning about your history and current experience level, then it’s definitely the case.

With a strong background, or even a touch of work-based experience (some industry qualifications maybe?) then it could be that your starting point will be quite dissimilar from someone who is just starting out.

Commencing with a basic PC skills program first can be the best way to get into your computer studies, depending on your skill level at the moment.

An important area that is sometimes not even considered by trainees considering a training program is ‘training segmentation’. Essentially, this is the method used to break up the program for drop-shipping to you, which vastly changes what you end up with.

Delivery by courier of each element stage by stage, as you pass each exam is the usual method of releasing your program. This sounds sensible, but you might like to consider this:

Many students find that their training company’s standard order of study isn’t as suitable as another. It’s often the case that a slightly different order suits them better. Could it cause problems if you don’t get everything done in the allotted time?

Truth be told, the best solution is to obtain their recommendation on the best possible order of study, but to receive all the materials up-front. You’re then in possession of everything should you not complete it at their required pace.

A useful feature that many training companies provide is a programme of Job Placement assistance. This is designed to steer you into your first IT role. Ultimately it isn’t a complex operation to get a job – as long as you’re correctly trained and certified; because there’s still a great need for IT skills in the UK today.

You would ideally have help with your CV and interview techniques though; additionally, we would recommend any student to update their CV as soon as they start a course – don’t delay until you’ve qualified.

You’ll often find that you will get your first job whilst still on the course (even in the early stages). If your course details aren’t on your CV (and it hasn’t been posted on jobsites) then you won’t even be considered!

Normally you’ll get quicker results from an independent and specialised local recruitment consultancy than you’ll get from a training course provider’s centralised service, as they’ll know the area better.

Just be sure that you don’t spend hundreds of hours on your training and studies, only to stop and imagine someone else is miraculously going to secure your first position. Take responsibility for yourself and make your own enquiries. Put as much energy and enthusiasm into securing the right position as you did to gain the skills.
